About
Griffith BESS

Throughout our drop-in sessions over the past year, we got to know the local community well and have met with a number of local organisations in The Riverina. We are looking forward to receiving applications for our Powering Big Dreams grants program from August 2026 once the project is under construction. To find out more please go to Griffith BESS benefits sharing program.

Griffith BESS is a project of state significance. In February 2025, Griffith BESS was awarded a NSW Long Duration Storage Long-Term Energy Service Agreement (LDS LTESA) from AEMO Services. Griffith BESS will provide an eight-hour duration storage capacity to store excess renewable energy and dispatch it to the grid during periods of high demand. Located on the corner of Irrigation Way and Bob Irvin Road in Yoogali, a suburb of Griffith LGA in New South Wales, the project will supply electricity into the National Electricity Market (NEM) NSW/ACT Region and is designed with a proposed operational life of 20+ years.

Griffith BESS is anticipated to be operational in 2028. The project is currently in development with planning and environmental studies underway. Construction is expected to start in mid 2026.
