Getting Canberrans moving

Part of the Canberra Environment Centre, the Recyclery is a volunteer lead community bike repair shed. Located at Gungaderra Homestead in Harrison, the Recyclery promotes free, fossil fuel–free transport through bicycle repair education and reuse.  The funding will be used to complete essential upgrades to the Recycler such as installing energy-efficient heating, cooling, outdoor lighting, security systems, and ventilation. The upgrades will ensure safety, comfort, and usability throughout Canberra’s extreme climate, extending the service's impact and reach.

As of March 2026, The Recyclery installed:

• Heaters
• Fans
• Outdoor lights
• Security lights
• Window security mesh
• Rollder Door

This is already helping to extend the opening hours and more Canberrans are using the service.
