Supporting long-term behaviour change to improve the health and wellbeing of participants.
This funding will be used to deliver OzHarvest’s Nutrition Education Skills Training (NEST) program in the ACT community. NEST is a 6-week public health nutrition program that improves food literacy and dietary behaviours of adults experiencing food insecurity. The program delivers a series of 2.5hr weekly workshops with 6-15 participants, through partnership with charitable organisations.
Currently, 3.4 million Australian households experience food insecurity with over 500,000 individuals going hungry on any given day (Foodbank 2024). The NEST Program has operated in the ACT since 2018 with continuous local interest and identified need for improving social connectedness within marginalised communities as well as improving food literacy knowledge and skills of recipients to address food utilisation and improve food security.
