By funding the upgrade of the native plant nursery, we will support local flora and fauna.
The Southern ACT Catchment Network is a landcare network that aims to connect, support and lead the community to improve the health of Southern ACT landscapes.
Some examples of issues being addressed by the SACTCG include community building, biodiversity, riparian plantings, weed management, soil health, water quality, European and Indigenous cultural heritage, vegetation loss and urban land degradation.
The Williamsdale grant is helping us kick start our Landcare Nursery, helping community volunteers grow native tubestock for our beautiful bush capital.
The Williamsdale grant is a much needed resource for our local community who work tirelessly to build the biodiversity of our public natural places and reserves.
As of March 2026, SACTCG have purchased 12 horticultural benches which are now set up in the existing poly tunnel and shade house. Irrigation to these benches is about to be installed.
A carport will be constructed in the next 2 months to provide more shade for volunteers and greater surface area for rainwater collection.
Some tube stock was moved to the site in December to test out the initial irrigation we installed. These plants are doing well and are currently being planted out in a few of our member sites and local farms.
The official launch of the landcare nursery is planned for April 15, 2026.
