Helping in dark times

Rise Above have been assisting patients in the Canberra/Queanbeyan region for over 30 years and can only imagine how incredibly difficult it must be to juggle the added costs associated with cancer treatment on top of everyday living.

The Williamsdale grant will provide financial assistance for medication relating to current treatment for cancer, chemotherapy, food supplements and food & petrol vouchers, electricity accounts, fertility preservation and UC Cancer Wellness Clinic.

The support of local cancer patients by Williamsdale BESS makes an enormous difference for people facing the fight of their lives. Caring for the local Canberra and Queanbeyan Palerang community in this way is true partnership, funding what is needed so we can deliver assistance where and when it is needed most. Without this support, Rise Above – Capital Region Cancer Relief would not be able to provide assistance to the growing number of cancer patients and their families. Over the past year alone, demand increased by 20%, with support provided to 788 patients.

Thank you, these funds allow us to get on with the job of providing care with greater certainty in 2026. We look forward to realising the full potential of this new relationship and connecting with the team here in the Canberra region during what is our 40th year of supporting our local community.
