Canberra, ACT
By integrating renewable energy and storage into this housing, we are helping to reduce energy stress and further lower the risk of our residents living below the poverty line.
Lady Heydon House is a YWCA Canberra social housing property that provides long-term, affordable accommodation for older women whose only housing option is community housing. Residents are able to stay as long as they need, with the autonomy and independence to make decisions about their own lives, supported by safe, stable housing.
Our Solar for Lady Heydon House program focuses on installing solar and battery technology to reduce the financial burden of electricity bills for our tenants, in a home that relies entirely on electricity for heating, cooling and cooking.
Huge thanks to Eku Energy for awarding YWCA Canberra a grant to provide Solar Hub solar panels and a battery system for Lady Heydon House, our purpose-built affordable housing for five single women aged 45+ who have been or were at risk of homelessness.
